Andy fisher
Athletics coach (Combined Events)
Andy is a former rugby player who became interested in athletics when he took his 8 year old daughter to the local athletics club in 2007. At this time, Andy was nearing the end of his rugby playing career and, with a passion for coaching and a corporate career in people management and learning development, Andy took his rugby coaching badges with a view to starting to coach at his local club.

At the same time, Southampton AC were asking for volunteers to help coach their U11 squad and Andy began to help out once a week when his daughter was there. Andy really enjoyed helping out and began to take his athletics coaching qualifications, and in 2010 he created the athletics academy at Southampton AC where he became head coach and qualified as a L2 athletics coach in 2012. Building on best practice of learning athletics skills across all areas of hurdle, run, jump and throw, the athletes within the academy began to improve with lots of individual age group success. The club full of athletes from the academy went on to win the National Age Group Youth Development League championship in 2016.

Andy left the academy to form his own coaching group and, continuing his coaching education became a performance level coach. The athletes he supported continued to have a great deal of individual success winning county, regional and national titles.

Andy left his corporate role in 2019, setting up his own business and becoming a full time professional athletics coach whilst at the same time accepting a role as Head of Jumps and Combined Events at Winchester & District AC at whose track Andy is based.
